MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The St. Catherine University tennis team opened their championship season with an 9-0 victory over non-conference foe, Martin Luther College at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
The doubles team of Bri and
Kelsey Dorr played in the No. 1 spot in the opening match defeating their opponent with a score of 8-1. Senior
Aubrey Eckstrom and junior
Ella Graham played the No. 2 doubles match defeating the Knights 8-0 while senior
Maddy Knoll and first-year
Monica Zink defeated their opponent also 8-0.
St. Catherine was just as dominate in singles action as
Kelsey Dorr defeated the Knights No. 1 singles player 6-0,6-1.
Sofia Walker made her debut in the No. 2 singles match winning 6-0, 6-0 and
Bri Dorr played No. 3 also winning 6-0,6-0.
Alisha Wiedmeier and Knoll were in the No. 4 and 5 singles matches, respectively following suit and defeating their opponents 6-0,6-0. The final singles match included first-year
Elsa Joly, making her debut with a 6-0,6-0 victory in her first-collegiate match.
The Wildcats (1-0) are back in action Saturday, February 22 hosting the University of Minnesota Morris at Baseline Tennis Center at 3 pm.
