Wildcats blanked by Tommies on the road

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - St. Catherine hockey fell to the University of St. Thomas 3-0 on Friday evening at St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights. The Tommies snapped the Wildcats three-game win steak dropping to 8-9 overall and 5-6 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). 

St. Catherine won the shot count in the opening period 7 to 3 holding off the Tommies for the first fifteen minutes. The Tommies scored their first goal sneaking past sophomore goalie Elizabeth Kubicek  with 4:39 remaining in the period. St. Thomas tallied their second goal with just 10 seconds to play in the period taking the 2-0 lead after one. 

Just over a minute out of the first intermission, St. Thomas scored the final goal of the game at 1:22. For the final 38 minutes of the conference game, Kubicek and the Wildcat defense held off the Tommies with 22 saves in the second and eight more in the third. 

St. Catherine will host St. Thomas on Saturday, February 1 at 2 pm at Drake Arena.
