MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Wildcats traveled to Concordia College Friday for the first of the two-game Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) series. The Wildcats dropped the first game falling to the Cobbers 5-1.
The Cobbers scored in the opening period taking a one-goal lead at 15:35 on the board. St. Catherine struggled in the second period allowing three goals in 1:14 and taking a 4-0 lead. Concordia scored their fifth and final goal with a Cobber in the penalty box at 4:30 left in the second taking a 5-0 lead.

Laura Denchfield found the back of the net taking away the shutout with a late third-period goal assisted by first-year
Kaitlyn Blair with less than four minutes remaining.
St. Catherine and Concordia will meet again Saturday at 2 pm in Moorhead for game two of the conference series. The Wildcats' return to St. Paul on Friday, January 24 hosting conference foe, St. Olaf College at 7 pm.
