Lauren Witte scored the game-winner in the 88th minute to lead the Wildcats (4-2, 1-0) to the 2-1 victory over Saint Mary's University (4-1, 0-1).
St. Catherine scored their first goal at 23:58 from sophomore
Sofia Campbell and assisted by senior
Amanda Carey. This is Campbell's second goal of the season and Carey's fourth assist. Carey has contributed an assist in each of the four games she has played in this year so far.
The Cardinals trailed the Wildcats until the 81st minute when they put the ball past first-year goalie
Molly Rudolph.
Witte's fifth goal of the season came seven minutes later at 88:44 to seal the win with an assist from senior
Allie Bird.
The Wildcats tallied 13 shots in the game with eight on goal. Rookie Mandy Elton had four shots with one on goal adding to her season total of 21, good for No. 8 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
St. Kate's hosts conference foe the Carleton College Knights on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats also play Sunday as they host nationally ranked Luther College at 2 p.m.
