RIVER FALLS, Wis. - St. Catherine volleyball improved their overall record to 7-2 on the first day of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday. The Wildcats opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Northland College (4-5) followed by a 1-3 loss to hosts UW-River Falls.
MATCH 1 | St. Catherine 3, Northland 0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-23)
In sets one and two the Wildcats dominated from the service line, going on multiple 4-plus points runs. Sophomore
Lauren Isaacson led the offensive attack Wildcats in the first match with 10 kills. Senior
Emma Nelson and junior
Erin Tebben both tallied 8 in the victory.
Rookie
Marissa Gilbertson registered a season-high 20 assists against the Lady Jills followed by fellow rookie setter
Abbi Harker with 14. Harker added 9 digs in the game also just behind sophomore
Grace Amacher with 10 and Nelson with 7.
MATCH 2 | St. Catherine 1, UW-River Falls 3
The Wildcats battled the Falcons from River Falls going toe to toe in the first three sets. After dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 24-26, respectively, the Wildcats took the third set 25-23.
Amacher and Nelson highlighted St. Kate's second match on the road. Amacher had a season-high 27 digs in the four-set match while Nelson tallied 11 digs and a team-best 15 kills. Junior
Erin Cutts had 13 kills and 2 blocks against the Eagles.
St. Kate's returns to River Falls on Saturday for a 12 pm match against the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
