BRADENTON, Fla. - St. Catherine tennis dropped their match 0-9 by the No. 4 team in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the State College of Florida-Manatee, in their second match of the spring break trip on Wednesday.
Juniors
Bri Dorr and
Alisha Wiedmeier were defeated in the No. 1 doubles match with a set score of 1-8. The Wildcats' No. 2 doubles pairing of juniors
Aubrey Eckstrom and
Maddy Knoll played a close match ultimately falling 6-8. St. Kate's was defeated 4-8 in the finals doubles competition of the match which included sophomore
Ella Graham and first-year
Reilee Schepper.
The Wildcats' were defeated in singles competition with Dorr in the No. 1 spot falling 0-6, 0-6. Her doubles partner Wiedmeier played in the No. 2 singles match and fell to the Manatees 1-6, 1-6. The Wildcats' No. 3 and No. 4 matches were played by Eckstrom and Knoll, respectively. Eckstrom dropped her match 0-6, 1-6, while Knoll played the closed singles match with a score of 2-6, 4-6.
Senior
Leah Obert collected her first singles loss of the season in the No. 5 singles match with a set score of 0-6, 1-6. The final singles match was played by Graham dropping to the nationally ranked Manatees 3-6, 0-6.
St. Kate's will return to conference play April 5 when they travel to Northfield to take on St. Olaf College.
