Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Catherine University tennis team opened the 2019 spring season at Fred Wells Tennis Education Center on Saturday evening in a non-conference dual against Martin Luther College. The Wildcats swept the Knights 9-0 to open the season.
Junior
Bri Dorr played in the Wildcats No. 1 singles spot going 6-3 and 6-3. In the No. 2 singles position was junior
Alisha Wiedmeier topping the Knights No. 2 player 6-3 and 6-0.
St. Catherine junior
Aubrey Eckstrom played in the No. 3 singles position winning her match 6-1 and 6-2. Rounding out the junior class in the No. 4 singles position was
Maddy Knoll won both sets with a perfect 6-0. Seniors
Leah Obert and
Ruth Rike played in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively both also winning each set 6-0 over their opponents.
In doubles play, Wiedmeier and Eckstrom played in the No. 1 spot topping Martin Luther's No. 1 doubles team 8-4. The Wildcats No. 2 doubles team included Dorr and sophomore
Ella Graham winning their match 8-2 and in the No. 3 double spot was first-year
Reilee Schepper and Knoll winning 8-0.

Megan Gaard said following the win, " It's always great to get a first match win under our belt. We have a lot of work ahead of us but tonight was a nice team effort and I am exicted for the potential to have a great season."
