Four Wildcat basketball players earn end of season MIAC honors

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) closed the book on its 2018-19 women's basketball season on Wednesday with the announcement of the annual conference awards. The St. Catherine University basketball team had four honorees selected to the end of the season awards list with senior Audra Clark and junior Danica Cambrice making the All-Conference list and first-year Sam Orth being named to the All-First-Year team. Junior captain Emma Nelson was also recognized in the end of the season release being named to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team. 

This is the second time both Clark and Cambrice have been named to the 18 person team, Clark in the 2016-17 season and Cambrice in 2017-18. Clark graduates as the Wildcats' All-Time Career Points and Assists leader both accomplishments she earned this season. Clark was first on the team this season with 355 ranking her No. 7 in the conference. Clark also ranked first on the team for assists this season for a season total of 109, ranking her No. 2 in the MIAC. Cambrice was just behind Clark this season for points averaging 15.5 per game for a season total of 326. The junior guard played in 21-games this season starting 17 averaging 4.9 rebounds per game. 

First-year Sam Orth was one of five named to the MIAC All-First-Year team and the only forward on the list. Orth started all 25 games this season for the Wildcats' averaging 5.6 rebounds per game and 247 points total in her debut season. The rookie forward averaged 23.5 minutes per game playing a vital role for the Wildcats' on the court this season ranking No. 5 in the MIAC for field-goal percentage at 53.8 at the end of the season. 

Rounding out the end of the season awards for St. Catherine is Nelson being selected for the MIAC All-Sportsmanship team. As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the 13th annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women's basketball. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
