ST. PAUL, Minn. - The forward duo of
Amanda Elton and sophomore
Lauren Witte struck again in the Wildcats 2-0 victory over St. Olaf College on Tuesday afternoon. Elton scored the Wildcats' first goal of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) game for her second game-winner of the season and her fourth goal overall. Elton's goal was assisted by Witte in the 22nd minute of play for her third assist this season.
After the first half, St. Catherine carried the one-goal lead and taking five-shots total in 45 minutes of play. Two minutes into the final half, Witte netted her eleventh goal of the season assisted by Elton at 47:10. Witte is No. 4 in the MIAC this season in goals having scored in seven of thirteen games played. Elton moved back to the No. 1 spot tied in the conference with Rachel Waterman from Bethel tallied nine this season. Elton has contributed an assist in eight of the Wildcats thirteen games in her rookie season.
Senior goalkeeper,
Tayler Koop recorded her sixth shutout of the season facing just one shot on net from the Oles. The Wildcats starter won her eighth game this season and fourth against conference opponents. Koop ranks No. 2 in the MIAC this season in conference wins.
The Wildcats are now 9-4 overall and 5-2 against conference opponents with four MIAC games remaining on the schedule this season before postseason play begins on November 5. St. Catherine's next conference game is Saturday, October 19 hosting Macalester College at 1 pm.
