Wildcat hockey tops Saint Benedict 6-2 led by Laken Muller with hat trick.

Eight players had points in the Wildcat win

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Game two against conference foe, the Bennies from the College of Saint Benedict was much different Saturday evening for the St. Catherine University Wildcat hockey team. St. Kate's scored a season-high 6 goals against the Bennies for a 6-2 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win. 

Senior forward Laken Muller added to her success from game one against the Bennies on Friday night scoring the Wildcats first three goals for her second career hat trick. La. Muller's first goal was short handed at 10:40 in the 1st period was assisted by sophomore forward Emilee Anderson for the 1-0 lead. La. Muller's next two goals both game in the 2nd period. Her second goal was assisted by junior Lexi Muller at 2:02 and the third two minutes alter at 4:17 was assisted by sophomore defenseman Veronica Gruett and senior defenseman Morgan Tentis

Tentis scored a power play goal for St. Kate's 4th goal of the game at 10:56 assisted by senior defenseman Tori Thompson. The Wildcats continued the hot streak as Ve. Gruett scored two minutes after Tentie with her first goal of the season from first-year forward Torii Thomas, again on a power play for the Wildcats. 

The Wildcats final goal of the game came again on a power play from Thompson assisted by senior forward Brede Postier for the 6-0 lead. Sophomore goalie Bryce Boreen had a near perfect game until 12:59 in the third period when the Bennies were able to score on a power play. They scored 33 seconds later again, on the power play for a final goal of the game. 

Head coach Brad Marshall followed up after the game saying, "What a difference 23 hours can make. Our six seniors really step up and lead us on the score sheet, but also in their leadership roles on the ice and in the locker room". 

St. Catherine travels to St. Peter on Friday, February 1st for a 7 p.m. game against Gustavus Adolphus College (10-5-4, 6-3-3 MIAC).
