NEW ULM, Minn. - The Wildcat volleyball team snapped their losing streak Monday night with a three set sweet of Martin Luther College 3-0. This is the second time the Wildcats and Knights have met this season with St. Kate's getting the favorable result both matches.
In the first two sets of the match, the Wildcats and Knights rallied back and fourth with Martin Luther holding a two point lead late in the set. The Wildcats were able to top them though closing the set with five straight points. In the second set, both squads came out with intensity ultimately tying the set at 22-22, but the Wildcats once again were able to overcome the challenge to take the 2-0 lead headed into the third set.
In the final set of the match, the Wildcats ran away with the lead with twelve straight points and finished the set 25-11. The Wildcat first-years continued to show their strengths in the match at Martin Luther.
Lauren Isaacson and
Grace Amacher both from Faribualt, Minnesota, led for the Wildcats on Monday evening. Isaacson collected 10 kills in the three set sweep while Amacher totaled 20 digs.
The Wildcats are on the road again Wednesday when they travel to Augsburg University for a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. St. Kate's is home again this Saturday as regionally ranked Gustavus Adolphus comes to St. Paul on Alumnae day! The Wildcats take on the Golden Gusties at 3 p.m. in
Butler Center.
