Volleyball is in Winona Saturday for midday conference match

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Wildcat volleyball squad heads south for a 3 p.m. match against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) rival Saint Mary's University Saturday. Headed into the match St. Kate's is 6-4, 0-2 MIAC with the Cardinals from Saint Mary's 7-6, 0-2 MIAC. At the conclusion of this match one of these teams will earn their first conference win of the season.

When these two met last season in St. Paul, the Wildcats fell in the five set match to the Cardinals. In that match, it was now senior Mackenzie Peper (Osecola, Wis.) and now junior Hannah Flatness (Elk Mound, Wis.) leading for the Wildcats. Peper totaled 12 kills in the five set battle with Flatness adding an impressive 7 blocks. Junior outside hitter Emma Nelson (Byron, Minn.) has been vital on the court so far this season for the Wildcats leading the team in kills with 80 and second in digs with 103.

In conference play this season, both teams are currently winless both falling to Bethel and St. Kate's dropping one to College of Saint Benedict. Saint Mary's second conference loss on the season came from Augsburg at home on Wednesday in three sets.
