ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Catherine University Wildcat hockey team hosted the University of St. Thomas Tommies in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup on Friday evening at Drake Arena. The undefeated Tommies topped the Wildcats 3-0 in game one of the conference series.
First-year goalie,
Elizabeth Kubicek (Chanhassen, Minn. / Minnetonka) had 11 saves in the first period and 22 overall in her first time facing the Tommies.
The Tommies took an early lead in the second period with 2:26 off the clock. Their second goal of the period came with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the period for the two-goal lead.
After pulling Kubicek late in the third period for the extra skater, the Tommies got their final goal with 2 minutes remaining in the game.

Laken Muller (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. / Simley) led St. Kate's on Friday evening with three shots on goal.
The Wildcats head to Saint Thomas Arena in Mendota Heights on Saturday for game two of the series with the Tommies for a 2 p.m. game.
