Volleyball extends win streak to three in senior night win over Concordia-Moorhead

Seniors Emily Carman and Mackenzie Peper were recognized for their remarkable careers as Wildcats

ST. PAUL - St. Catherine University volleyball has had an impressive last three matches with two conference wins included as they topped Concordia College - Moorhead Wednesday 3-1. The last home match of the season was dedicated to seniors Emily Carman (Maple Grove, Minn. /  Osseo) and Mackenzie Peper (Osceola, Wis.) as they led their team to a victory over the Cobbers, something the Wildcats have not secured since prior to 2007*. The Wildcats extend their record to 14-11 overall and 3-7 in the MIAC with one match remaining on the season. 

St. Kate's had their most impressive match of the season in the 3-1 win of the Cobbers dropping the first set 20-25  but running away with the rest of the match. In set two, the Wildcats were hitting .484 racking up 18 kills as a team and taking down Concordia 25-12. 

Set three was nearly a repeat as the Wildcats attack attempt was .333 and swept the Cobbers 25-16 forcing them to five errors and just 9 kills in the set. 

The Cobbers fought back in the final set of the match pressuring the Wildcats to come back late to almost force a match determining fifth set. It was Peper with the final kill of the season inside of Butler Center to secure the win at 25-23 for a match score of 3-1, Wildcats. 

Over the past four seasons, the Carman and Peper have played in a combined 581 sets, 177 matches and 985 kills both as right side hitters for the Wildcats. Carman has appeared in a total of 236 sets and 76 matches in her four year career. As a right side hitter, Carman has collected 271 kills for St. Kate's on 1002 attack attempts. Carman's off court leadership is second to none as she has earns Dean's List honors each semester, maintained a 3.904 GPA and leads many on campus organizations.

In Peper's  four-year career with the Wildcats, the Osceola, Wisconsin native has played in 345 sets for St. Kate's in 101 matches. The right side has a total of 713 kills ranking her 7th in program history. Peper's overall attack attempts also ranks her 7th in program history at 2151. Off the court, Peper is a member of the St. Catherine University Student Nurses Association and member of the Nursing Department Committee on Students. Both seniors will be missed both on and off of the court as they were vital in the growth and success of the program in their tenure.
