ST. PAUL - The Wildcat volleyball team picked up a 3-0 in their final non-conference match of the season over visiting Crown College Storm advancing their overall record to 12-11 on Parent's Night. St. Kate's opened the match with a special recognition honoring each players parents thanking them for their support and commitment to the program.
Senior right side hitter
Mackenzie Peper led the Wildcats in the 3 set match hitting .389 with 8 kills only appearing in just two sets for the Wildcats.
Junior defensive specialist
Larissa Kisch (Oakdale, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) had the Wildcats to an early 7-0 lead picking up three service aces in the first set. Kisch and the Wildcats breezed past the Storm in first set taking them 25-16.
Set two started out with junior setter
Meagan Schwarzrock (Hutchinson, Minn. / Valley City State) taking the Wildcats to a 4-0 lead. In the 25-16 set win over Crown, the Wildcats forced 9 errors and the Storm to a -.176 hitting percentage.
The final set started out a little slow for St. Catherine as Crown earned their only lead of the match at 9-6 Storm before rallying back to tie at 11-11. After the tie, St. Kate's ran away with the set with sophomore middle hitter,
Erin Cutts (Osceola, Wis. / South Dakota State University) at the service line with nine straight points. The Wildcats only allowed Crown to earn 3 more points in the set taking them 25-14 for the 3-0 straight sets win.
The Wildcats are at Hamline University on Saturday, October 20 at 3 p.m. for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match- up.
