ST. PAUL - On the final day of the St. Kate's Invitational, the Wildcats finished 1-1 again after going 1-1 on day one. St .Kate's took down the visiting University of California, Santa Cruz 3-1 to kick off the day and dropped the final match of the tournament to Luther College 1-3.

The Wildcats were led by the pair of sophomore middle hitters
Erin Tebben (New London, Minn. / New London Spicer) and
Erin Cutts (Osceola, Wis. / South Dakota State) in the first match. Tebben added 11 kills and 4 blocks while Cutts had 8 blocks and 7 kills. First-year outside hitter Bry Leverentz (Andover, Minn.) continued to have an impressive performance at the net repeating her season best 8 kills in the match.
After dropping the first set in a battle on both sides of the net, the Wildcats ran away with the match hitting .450 and forcing the Banana Slugs to 11 errors in the second set.

In their fourth and final match of the weekend, the Wildcats fell to the Luther College Norse in four sets. The Wildcats were off to a strong start taking the first set over the Norse 25-1.
St. Kate's and Luther traded the lead in set two before the Norse found momentum and rallied off 4 straight points before running away with the set at 25-19. The Norse played off their second set win to overpower St. Kate's hitting just .51 to their .410. The final set of the tournament remained in favor of Luther as they took down the Wildcats by six points.

Mackenzie Peper (Osceola, Wis.) had 13 kills in the final match of the tournament while Leverentz improved on her career best to collect 11 kills.
St. Kate's heads to Northfield for their first of just five matches remaining on the season when they take on Carleton College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17.
