Isaacson leads Wildcats in five set loss to Carleton

Box Score NORTHFIELD, Minn. – St. Kate's volleyball dropped a tough five set battle in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match against Carleton College Wednesday evening. With the loss on the road to the Knights, the Wildcats bring their record to 11-11 and 1-7 MIAC.

St. Kate's opened the first set with the lead over the Knights of Carleton College. The Knights were able to come back after being down four point most of the match to pressure St. Kate's late before the Wildcats took the set at 25-22. The Wildcats service aces were proven key in the first set picking up five to the Knights zero.

St. Kate's was overpowered in set two by the Carleton as they took a nine point lead when first-year Grace Amacher was able to get the Wildcats back in the game with five straight points from the service line. Amacher's efforts were followed up by her longtime teammate, Lauren Isaacson picking up 10 of the teams 15. The duo's production was not enough though dropping the set to the Knights 24-26.

Tied 1-1 with the Knights entering set three, St. Kate's came back from being down to pick up the set win 25-23 hitting .472 over Carleton. Set four started out in strong again for the Knights running away with the set over St. Kate's 25-19 forcing the Wildcats to a fifth set.

Sophomore setter Brooke Beuning (New London, Minn. / New London-Spicer) opened set five with a service ace for St. Kate's. After a battle of service errors with three straight errors, the MIAC service ace leader picking up her eighth in the match was Tegan Carlson to lead the Knights to the 15-11 set win over St. Kate's.  

Isaacson's collegiate career performance against the Knights resulted in her leading the Wildcats tallying 16 kills and 7 digs in the five set match. Isaacson and the Wildcats are home on Friday against non-conference opponent Crown College at 7 p.m. for Parent's Night!
