Basketball to face Hamline Saturday

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The January journey continued for the St. Catherine University basketball team. The Wildcats will partake in their fourth-straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) game on Saturday, as they travel down Snelling Avenue to take on the Hamline University Pipers.

Saturday's game between St. Kate's and Hamline is slotted to begin at 3 p.m. in the historic Hutton Arena. Live stats and video will be available for fans who aren't able to make the trek down Snelling Avenue. Score updates can also be found on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five things to know before Saturday's 3 p.m. tip off:

47 – The Wildcats were held to their lowest point total of the season in a 75-47 loss to the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday. Ashley Fosness (Britton, S.D. / Britton-Hecla) tallied a career-high 12 points and was St. Kate's top scorer, while Morgan Kurth (Hutchinson, Minn. / Hutchinson) added nine points, one free throw short of her career-high 10 points.

78 – The Wildcats and Pipers met just once in 2016-17, and St. Kate's came out on top by a final score of 78-53. Danica Cambrice (St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) and Audra Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo) each scored 17 points and tallied six assists in the victory, while seniors Kennedy Jennings and Mari Lee each scored in double-digits.

10 – Hamline is coming off its third straight loss to a MIAC opponent by 10 points or less. The Pipers lost to Augsburg College by a score of 72-62 on January 3 before dropping games to Macalester and Carleton. Both losses were by five points, as Hamline lost to the Scots 63-58 before dropping this past Wednesday's game to the Knights 71-66.

2 – The Wildcats posted an even 2-2 record since returning to action in late December. However, St. Kate's is trying to snap a two-game losing streak after suffering conference losses to Bethel and Saint Ben's in its last two games.

8 - While the Wildcats are trying to snap a two game losing streak on Saturday, the Pipers are trying to snap a streak of their own. Hamline enters Saturday's game riding an eight game losing streak. Five of the Pipers eight losses have come against MIAC opponents.
