Softball travels to Concordia, hosts Macalester in busy weekend

ST. PAUL, MINN. – It has been exactly eight days since the St. Catherine University softball team played a game against a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) opponent. This weekend, the Wildcats have the honor of playing two conference opponents, one on the road and one at the comforts of their own home field, to kick off the final two weeks of the MIAC regular season.

First, St. Kate's will travel to Moorhead, Minnesota on Saturday to take on the Concordia College Cobbers. The Wildcats will then return home Sunday to play the Macalester College Scots and honor their parents on Parent Appreciation Day.

Live stats will be available for both doubleheaders. Concordia will have live stats for both game one and two, and fans who can't make Sunday's doubleheader can follow along via live stats as well. Score updates can also be found on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five things to know before this weekend's big MIAC doubleheaders:

8 – It has been exactly eight days since the Wildcats last played a game. St. Kate's split its doubleheader against Augsburg College, which occurred on April 13. Since then, the Wildcats were scheduled to play Hamline and Gustavus at home, but both doubleheaders were postponed due to rain. It has been 14 days since the team last played at home, when it hosted Bethel on April 8.

100 – St. Kate's had two players record their 100th career hits against Carleton on April 9. Kylie Macziewski (Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson) was the youngest player in program history to hit the milestone with her RBI single in the first inning of the Wildcats 13-2 game one victory until teammate Ashley Sis (Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) broke the record one game later,  when she hit an RBI single up the middle for hit 100.

18 – Sophomore outfielder Anna Hinderaker (Rosemount, Minn. / Rosemount) has drawn 18 walks as St. Kate's lead off hitter this season. Not only does that mark lead the team, it also puts her tied for second all-time in program history for single season walks.

.939 – Sophomore third baseman Jenna George (Ellsworth, Wis. / Ellsworth) currently has a .939 slugging percentage against MIAC opponents, the highest percentage in the conference. George also currently leads the MIAC in home runs, both overall (7) and in conference play (4) and overall on base percentage (.558).

.343 – As a team, the Wildcats are currently hitting .343 against MIAC opponents, the second highest team batting average in the conference. On the flip side, St. Kate's pitchers have held conference opponents to a .244 average at the plate with a 2.15 ERA.
