MIAC Release
BLOOMINGTON, MINN. – Sophomore
Danica Cambrice (St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix-Lutheran) is no stranger to putting up big numbers for the St. Catherine University basketball team. After one of the most historic weeks in program history, Cambrice was recognize for her scoring prowess, as she was selected as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week.
Cambrice had an outstanding week for the Wildcats, as she averaged 24.5 points and shot shooting 70 percent from the floor in two games. She made history in more ways than one in St. Kate's 72-67 victory over Macalester last Wednesday thanks to her career-high 30 point and 14 rebound performance. Her 30 point performance is tied for fifth all-time for single-game scoring in program history and is the most points scored in a game by any St. Kate's player since February 2016. Cambrice also tied the school record for field goals made in a single game (13) and accounted for nearly 42% of the Wildcats offense.
The sophomore followed up her record setting performance by scoring 19 points in a loss to UW-River Falls on Saturday. This season, Cambrice leads St. Kate's and is fourth in the MIAC in points per game (17.8) and ranks second in field goal percentage (.573).
