PORTLAND, ORE. – The St. Catherine University basketball team could not have asked for a better start to the 2017-18 season. The Wildcats beat the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in resounding fashion in Wednesday evening's season opener, dropping the Eagles by a final score of 69-51.
This weekend, St. Kate's will try to keep the good times rolling as it competes at the Lewis and Clark Opening Tournament in Portland, Oregon. The Wildcats will open the tournament on Saturday when they take on the host school at 3 p.m. central time. St. Kate's will then return to the court on Sunday to take on Linfield College at 2 p.m. in the final game of the four-team tournament.

Here are the five things to know before the Wildcats tip off at their tournament this weekend:
47 – St. Kate's senior guard
Audra Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo) and sophomore forward
Danica Cambrice (St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) made quite the statement in the team's opening game against Northwestern, scoring a combined 47 points to account for half the Wildcats offense that night. Clark tied her career-high in points, scoring 26 total, while Cambrice broke and reset her career high by scoring 21 in the opener.
12 – Cambrice was also spectacular on the boards in Wednesday evening's win. The sophomore pulled in a team high 12 rebounds in the effort to record her first double-double of the season and the third of her career at St. Kate's.
20 – St. Kate's defense was outstanding in the second half against the Eagles. The Wildcats held Northwestern to just 20 points in the final two quarters and gave up just nine in the third quarter.
4th – St. Kate's opened the season with a win for the fourth consecutive season. In fact, the Wildcats haven't lost their season opener since 2013-14 when they lost to the University of California, Santa Cruz in a season opening tournament.
1st – This will be the first meeting in program history between St. Kate's and Lewis and Clark and the Wildcats and Linfield. In fact, although the Wildcats have traveled out west multiple times, this will be their first trip to Oregon.
