Basketball looks to return to 'W" column at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The St. Catherine University basketball team (10-6, 4-5 MIAC) has hit a bit of a speed bump in its recent Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) games. The Wildcats are 1-3 against conference opponents this month, but all three of those losses came against three of the top four teams in the MIAC.

Saturday, St. Kate's looks to get back to winning in its 3 p.m. game against. St. Olaf College (6-10, 2-7 MIAC). The Wildcats and Oles already met once this season in early December, with St. Kate's winning the game by a score of 69-51.

Tip off between the two teams is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Northfield, Minnesota on St. Olaf's campus. Live stats and video will be available for those who can't make the trip and score updates will be made on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five things to know before Saturday's tip off:

18 – The last time these two teams met, St. Kate's won the game by 18 points, thanks to strong defensive play down the stretch. The Wildcats never trailed the game and outscored the Oles 18-9 in both the first and fourth quarters, leading the team to its most decisive win of the season, to that point.

84 – In the past three games against St. Olaf, senior guard LaShay Holt (Minneapolis, Minn. / Humboldt) has scored a combined 84 points. She scored 33 in the first meeting between the two teams last season then followed that up with a 32 point performance in the final game of the season. Earlier this season, Holt led the team with 19 points against the Oles.

52 – Wednesday night, Holt and fellow guard Audra Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo) scored a combined 52 points in an 83-76 loss to No. 22/25 Gustavus Adolphus College. The two teammates accounted for 68% of St. Kate's offense, as Holt scored a season high 29 points and Clark added 23 of her own.

3 – Three different Wildcats still rank in the top-5 in the MIAC's statistical categories. Clark currently ranks No. 5 in scoring with an average of 16.0 points per game. Holt ranks fourth in conference in rebounding (9.9/game) and Mari Lee (Dawson, Minn. / Dawson-Boyd) is second in the conference in three-point shooting average (46.2%).

10.4 – St. OIaf senior forward Betsey Daly leads the MIAC in rebound and is currently averaging 10.4 rebounds a game. Daly also leads the conference in defensive rebounds (110), total rebounds (166), minutes played (578) and minutes per game (36.1).
