Basketball returns to conference play in tonight's home game against Saint Ben’s

ST. PAUL, MINN. – After an exciting win Monday against UW-Superior, the Wildcats are ready to get back on the court and face Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) opponent Saint Benedict. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the 2015-16 season and one of the final two home games for the Wildcats this season.

Here are the numbers you should know before St. Kate's takes on the Blazers tonight:

45 – The number of combined personal fouls between the Wildcats and Yellow Jackets in Monday night's game. St. Kate's committed 21 person fouls throughout the four quarters, while Superior added 24 of their own. The Wildcats have committed 21 fouls or more eight times this season, and the most fouls they've committed in a single game has been 29 (11/16/15 vs. Crown College).

16 – The number of free throws the Wildcats made in the second half against UW-Superior, which accounted for almost half of their third and fourth quarter points. Juniors LaShay Holt (Minneapolis, Minn./Humboldt) and Mari Lee (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) were 9-10 and 3-4 from the free throw line respectively, while Audra Clark (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo) and Meg Clark (Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo) combined for the other three.

10 – The number of overall wins St. Kate's has this season, matching their win total for all of 2014-15. Monday night's win also matched the highest number of wins in a season under current head coach Sean Pinkerton. Since Pinkerton took over the program four years ago, the Wildcats have improved by at least two wins per season in conference play.

3 – Only three teams have beaten UW-Superior this season, and Saint Ben's and St. Kate's account for two of those three. The Blazers defeated the Yellow Jackets 62-51 in late November and were the last team to do so until the Wildcats did on Monday.

2 – The number of times Saint Ben's and St. Kate's met last season. The first meeting happened on December 13 in the Butler Center, where the Blazers went on to win 73-70 behind a 21 point effort from former standout Mattie Lueck. The second game also resulted in a 73-62 Saint Ben's victory where Lueck was once again the team's leading scorer. Holt and Audra Clark led the scoring for the Wildcats in those contests.

Bonus number: 2 – the number of regular season home games left in the 2015-16 regular season. Tonight's game is one of two home games left for the Wildcats this season. Be sure to come out to the Butler Center to watch at 7 p.m. or follow along online via live stats or video.
