After a tough stretch of matches a week ago at the Midwest Invitational, the St. Catherine University tennis team hoped it could get back on track with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory against Concordia College. The Wildcats were able to do just that as they cruised to a 9-0 win over the Cobber Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.

The Wildcats dominated on all fronts with no one player dropping more than two games in singles play. This came after the Wildcats shut out the Cobbers at two doubles spots to sweep 3-0 heading into singles.

Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.) and Kylie Ketcho (Edina, Minn.) took down the top Cobbers' pair 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Alicia Knoll (Waseca, Minn.) and Bailey Knight (Hudson, Wis.) picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles. Mikinzee Salo (Brainerd, Minn.) and Megan Buysse (Redwood Falls, Minn.) also were victorious at the No. 2 spot with a 8-4 decision over Brittany Glatt and Morgan Sawatzke.

In her first MIAC singles appearance this season, Knight picked up a perfect 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 6 singles over Celia Peloquin, while Ketcho won by the same score over Kaitlyn Davies at the No. 2 spot. Koval defeated Glatt 6-0,6-1 to lead the Wildcats at the No. 1 spot, while Salo and Knoll won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Buysse was the final Wildcat winner at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rose Reinart.

The Wildcats improved to 6-1 in the MIAC and 10-5 overall with the win. The Wildcats return to action Sunday against Gustavus Adolphus College at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
