Coming off a big win over reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) champion Carleton College last weekend, the St. Catherine University tennis team headed into its next match against the College of Saint Benedict looking to maintain an untainted record.

The Wildcats bumped their winning streak up to six-straight with an 8-1 win over the Blazers and remained undefeated Saturday evening at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

The match opened with a 3-0 sweep of doubles for the Wildcats. Michaela Burroughs (Waterloo, Neb.) and Maria Koval (Green Bay, Wis.) continued their dominance at No. 2 as they raced out to an early lead and never looked back en route to a 8-1 victory over the Blazers' Victoria Beach and Ellie Black.

Angie Lorenzen (Mitchell, S.D.) and Mikinzee Salo (Brainerd, Minn.) also remained undefeated at the No. 3 spot as they took down Beth Richmond and Rachel Raden 8-2 for another quick Wildcat doubles win.

Reigning MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week Victoria Bravo (Tucson, Ariz.) and Kylie Ketcho (Edina, Minn.) overcame an early deficit to pull in the final doubles victory at the No. 1 spot with an 8-6 win over Jamie Hoffman and Daley Ruper.

Bravo then proceeded to finish off Hoffman 6-1, 6-2 to remain unbeaten at the No. 1 singles position this season, while Koval also kept her winning streak alive as she took down Beach 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 position.

At No. 2 singles, Burroughs finished off the opposition in nearly-perfect fashion with 6-2, 6-0 straight set wins over Ruper, while Ketcho had an impressive 6-3, 6-1 win over Black at the No. 4 singles spot.

The final win of the day came at No. 5 singles where Lorenzen lost her first set in a tie breaker to Richmond, but worked her way back into the match with a 6-1 win in the second set. She then managed to pull off an 11-9 win in the final tie breaker to help the Wildcats improve to 4-0 in the MIAC.

The Wildcats return to non-conference action against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in Rochester, Minn.
