Wildcat basketball can't overcome late first half Piper run in 66-43 loss

Lee had a team-best 16 points vs. Hamline
Box Score
In its last meeting with Hamline University, the St. Catherine University basketball team couldn't find a way to  slow down its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe from beyond the arc and hoped things would be different the second time around.

Unfortunately, it was the same story as the Pipers scored 36 points from 3-point range to take down the Wildcats 66-43, Monday night at the Butler Center.

The Wildcats managed to keep the Pipers close as they were down just one with seven minutes to play in the first half, but the Pipers used a 17-5 run to pull away and never looked back en route to their 11th conference victory of the season.

For the third consecutive game, Kristen Lee (Dawson, Minn.) reached double-digits and led the Wildcats with 16 points – her second best performance this season. Lee is now averaging 9.7 points per game and is second on the team in scoring.

Sarah Mong (Page, Ariz.) also reached double-digits for the third-consecutive game with 10 points. The sophomore also pulled in five rebounds and an assist.

Mary Neumann (Duluth, Minn.) led the Wildcats in rebounding with a game-high 9, while Cynthia Cowan (Elgin, Texas) pulled in eight. Both Cowan and Neumann are averaging over five rebounds a game to for the Wildcats.

Cassidy Vogt led the way for the Pipers with 20 points, while the league's leading scorer, Steph Pilgrim, knocked down five 3-pointers and finished the night with 18 points.

The Wildcats will look to pull off an MIAC victory against a 3-15 Bethel University squad on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Butler Center.
