Wildcats fall to league-leading Cobbers in tough road loss

Box Score
With just two games remaining in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season, the St. Catherine University basketball team would have its hands full against the league-leading Concordia College Cobbers on the road in the middle of the week.

Unfortunately, the Wildcats couldn't find a way to shut down the Cobbers' sharpshooting in a tough 80-46 loss Wednesday evening in Moorhead, Minn.

The Cobbers used a 50-percent shooting night to capture a piece of their first conference title since 1990 and handed the Wildcats a tough loss in the team's final road game of the season.

Concordia scored the first points of the game to take the lead and never surrendered en route to victory.

Despite a tough shooting night all-around for the Wildcats, Shauna Horsch (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) had a career-best performance to lead the way offensively with 11 points, while Sarah Mong (Page, Ariz.) also had 11 points and shot 3-for-5 from the field.

Kristen Lee (Dawson, Minn.) tallied eight points and pulled in four rebounds, while Sarina Baker (Plymouth, Minn.) led the team with six rebounds.

Four Cobbers scored in double-digits including Erika Jossart and Alexandra Lippert who both went 6-for-8 for 13 points.

The Wildcats will wrap up the 2012-13 season at the Butler Center against the University of St. Thomas on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
