Thanks to a big second inning and some quality fielding the Wildcats get the 4-1 win in the first game and follow it up with more of the same in the second game. A big third inning and solid defense to lock up the 7-2 victory and the sweep.
The seniors came up big in the first game. In that big second inning,
Kaitlyn Frank started things off by doubling to center field. She would later score on a homerun by Ashley Karl. Later
Kelsey Luedtke would triple to left, scoring
Cassie Rooney. Not to be out done,
Jessica Kniefel singled to left, scoring Luedtke and would then steal second.
Morgan Bohmbach scattered five hits giving up one run in the complete game win for St. Kate's.
The second game would get off to a different start with Concordia rallying with two outs to score one, capturing the early lead. The score remained 0-1 until the bottom of the third when the Wildcats bats came alive, scoring six runs on six hits.
Kelsey Luedtke had another solid game at the plate, going 2-3, and scoring twice.
Jessica Kniefel would add an RBI single and Karl would contribute with a RBI sacrifice fly.
Sarah McLennan pitched a six hit, two run gem to finish the sweep of the Cobbers.
Up next, the Wildcats face Augsburg on Saturday in Minneapolis at 1:00 p.m.
