The Wildcat softball team traveled to Winona Saturday afternoon to take on conference foe, St. Mary's.
The first game started off well with St. Kate's getting out to an early four run lead after the first half-inning.
Shae Elliott picked up three RBI with a three-run homerun, scoring
Jenna Brady and
Kaitlyn Frank. St. Mary's would score three of their own in the bottom of the inning to bring them within one run. The Cardinals would add three more in the second to take a 6-4 lead.
Both teams would add one run in the fourth inning, keeping the two run advantage with SMU. The Wildcats would plate two in the sixth to tie the game at 7-7, which is what the score remained until the top of the eighth when
Kaitlyn Luedtke knocked in
Cassie Rooney on an RBI single.
The St. Kate's defense would hold the Cardinals scoreless in the bottom of the frame to ice the 8-7 win.
The second game was a much different story.
Morgan Bohmbach would pitch a scoreless gem and pick up her second win of the day as the Wildcats scattered six runs throughout the game for the 6-0 win.
