The Wildcats traveled to Clermont, Florida to take part in a spring softball tournament over the next three days. On Sunday they faced Colby College (ME) to start the tournament.
In the first game of the double-header, the Wildcats rallied in late innings to get the win.
Morgan Bohmbach pitched a complete game, three hit win.
Alyssa Luedtke,
Jenna Brady, and
Jessica Tyminski all went two-for-three at the plate, boosting the St. Kate's offense, while
Cassie Rooney led with a strong defensive performance to help shut down Colbys offense
. Final score, St. Kate's 3, Colby 1.
The second game played out much differently. Colby got out to a good lead and the Wildcats were forced to battle back in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded,
Shae Elliott hit a base-clearing double and would later score the tying run on a single from
Jessica Kniefel, to knot the score at six all. Colby would answer with two runs of their own to ice the victory in the seventh inning, leaving the final at 6-8, Colby.
