Another slow start has led to the Wildcats fifth straight loss. St. Bens scored the first seven points of Wednesday night's game in St. Joseph and that is all the cushion they would need. Four Blazers would score in the double digits as they slowly pulled out of reach. When the halftime buzzer sounded, the score was an insurmountable 24-47.
St. Kate's was led by
Sarina Baker who scored eighteen points in the 63-90 loss. Freshman,
Jule Muegge chipped in fifteen points, and
Adele Simerson-Wallfred led the Wildcats in rebounds with ten.
The second half was much closer, but still favored the Blazers by four points (39-43). In the game St. Benedict shot a red-hot 51% from the field, while St. Kate's shot 31%. The Wildcat's were much more efficient on the boards, out-rebounding the Blazers 42-26.
With the loss, St. Kate's drops to 1-5 on the season, while St. Ben's improves to 4-1.
The team is back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Elmhurst College in Illinois.
