Rooney breaks the second 3-3 tie of the weekend for the win Saturday

Friday night the Wildcats found themselves in a back and forth battle with St. Ben's that would eventually end in a 3-3 draw. Saturday, the two teams met up in another nail-biter, also knotted at 3 after regulation.  St. Kate's would reign victorious with just 1:22 remaining in overtime as Cassie Rooney netted the game winning shot on assist from Bridget Braastad and Kelsey Abrahamson.

The Wildcat's were first to score Saturday afternoon when Megan Killmer scored an even strength goal on assist from Kasey Evans and Hallie Paschke.  St. Ben's would net the next two points, to take the lead.  Their first, late in the first period by Brenna Gould and the second, early in the second period by Rachel Welz.

St. Kate's would even it up again just under five minutes later when Cassie Roonie scored, assisted by Kasey Evans and Kayla Clafton.  The Blazers would once again take the lead on a short-handed score by Megan Brettingen with just 19 seconds remaining in the period. 

The third period was much of the same as both teams had numerous scoring chances. The Wildcats would net the equalizer with 2:02 left in regulation. on a Rachel Gasperetti goal, assisted by Kallie Geissler and Kelsey Abrahamson. The game ended with time running down in OT on Cassie Rooney's stick. 

St. Kate's is back in action next Saturday, December 10 when they take on Concordia College in a 5:00 p.m. game.
