Despite outscoring the Royals in the second half by six, the Wildcat's didn't have enough to top Bethel Wednesday night at the Butler center. Final score, 72-57.
St. Kate's got off to a slow start, not scoring in the first several minutes and giving up the first 14 points of the game. Once they settled in, things went a bit better, but the Royals who had three players in double-digits were simply too much. Bethel poured in ten 3-point shots on the night, compared to just one by the Wildcats.
In the second half, St. Kate's came out firing. Scoring seven seconds into play and shooting 39% from the field. Bethel, who shot a red-hot 47% in the first half, cooled off considerably, shooting 33% in the second.
St. Kate's was led by
Sarina Baker, who put up 15 points and added 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Two Wildcats pulled down seven boards on the night,
Kristen Lee and Sarah Mong also added four and eight points, respectively.
With the loss, St. Kate's falls to 1-2 on the season, while Bethel improves to 3-1.
The Wildcats take the floor again Saturday, December 3 at Hamline. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
