The Wildcats came out strong against the Cardinals, taking the lead early and keeping it until 6:17 in the first half. From there the game remained close until the halftime buzzer with SMU leading 32-30.
The second half started off similarly as
Laura Kalbfell hit a 3-pointer to put SCU out front by one. The lead changed hands nine times in the next 5 minutes of play until St. Mary's took it for good at the 15:20 mark. At that point the Cardinals found their stride and slowly pulled away.
Laura Kalbfell led the Wildcat scoring with 23 points and added 3 blocks and a steal defensively.
Megan Zillmer and
Andrea Gould both chipped in 9 points in the effort.
The team takes the court again Saturday afternoon in the
Butler Center against St. Thomas in another conference battle at 3:00 p.m.
