Wildcat Basketball Falls Short Against Concordia

Laura Kalbfell

In their second-to-last regular season game, the St. Kate's basketball team lost to Concordia 76-71 Wednesday night in Moorhead, MN.

After starting the second half down by 10 points, the Wildcats battled back to take a 61-59 lead off of a Amy Battey three pointer with 5:44 remaining. The Cobbers responded and made some key shots to take a lead. That forced St. Kate's to foul with less than one minute to play. Unfortunately for SCU, Concordia was able to convert their free throw attempts down the stretch to take the victory.

Molly Peterson finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Laura Kalbfell led the Wildcats with 24 points, followed by Battey and Sonja Ellingson each with 13 points.

St. Kate's record now stands at 10-11 in the MIAC, 11-13 overall. They remain tied with Hamline for the final MIAC playoff spot.

The Wildcats make the short trip to play at Macalester on Saturday, February 20th at 3:00 pm.
