The St. Kate's basketball team overcame a sluggish first half to pick up their first conference win of the season. The Wildcats are now 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
After jumping out to a quick 8-0 lead with five points from
Kristen Lee and a three-pointer from
Laura Kalbfell the Wildcats offense went cold. Hamline took a 26-19 lead into the locker room at the half.
Andrea Gould scored the first four points of the second half to get the Wildcats back into the game. After
Sonja Ellingson scored to give SCU a 29-28 lead with 14:48 remaining, the Wildcats never looked back. Extending their lead the rest of the game.
Kalbfell again led the Wildcats in scoring with 15 points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds, recording her third double-double of the season.
Lee went 4-for-9 from the field, and contributed 12 big points to the Wildcats cause.
Gould made her presence felt on the inside, picking up ten points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes of play.
The Wildcats return to action on Monday Dec. 6 when the make the short trip up Snelling Avenue to take on Macalester.
