Basketball Falls to Concordia

Cassandra Hubler

The Wildcat basketball team lost to Concordia College 62-50 Wednesday night at Butler Center. The loss brings St. Kate's record to 5-4 in the MIAC and 6-6 overall.

After being down 2-8 early in the game, the Wildcats fought back to take a 14-13 lead with 8 minutes left until half, thanks to a Cassandra Hubler three-pointer. Molly Peterson and Laura Kalbfell then added layups to help St. Kate's take a 24-21 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats traded points with the Cobbers for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but the following 10 minutes turned sour. Costly turnovers and lack of rebounding turned into points for Concordia, and St. Kate's was unable to recover.

Hubler led the Wildcats with 12 points for the game, followed by Megan Zillmer with 11 and Kalbfell with 10. Peterson had 7 points and 8 rebounds.

The Wildcats look to improve their MIAC record when they travel to play Hamline on Saturday, January 16th at 3:00 p.m. Their next home game is against Macalester on Monday, January 18th at 7:30 p.m at Butler Center.
