Volleyball wins 3-2 over Hamline

The St. Kate's volleyball team improved their record to 12-7 on the year (2-2 in M.I.A.C.) after a victory over Hamline Wednesday night at Butler Center.

After fighting to a 10-6 lead in the first game, the Wildcats won the next 15 of 21 points to claim the 25-12 win.

In the second game St. Kate's jumped to an early 8-4 lead. The Wildcats were able to build their lead to 20-12 after a five point rally, and they never looked back. The final score was 25-18.

The Pipers came out energized in the third game, catching the Wildcats off-guard. St. Kate's battled back, but was never quite able to overcome a three to four point deficit, eventually dropping the game 17-25.

St. Kate's got behind early in the fourth game but was able to tie the score at 13-13. The teams traded points until the Wildcats were able to pull ahead 20-17. Hamline then found a way to tie the score at 21 a piece, and continued to rally for the next four points to win the game.

The Wildcats showed their desire to win in the final game, quickly building a 10-3 lead. Hamline gained a few more points, but it was not enough as St. Kate's took the 15-11 win.

The scores of the game were as follows: 25-21, 25-18, 17-25, 21-25, 15-11.

Leading the Wildcats in kills was senior Maria Hoffman with 15, followed by Kayla Sis with 12 and Megan Ahlbrecht and Racquel Reker with 11. Nicole Neumann recorded 19 digs, Hoffman had 11 and Nicole Pothen and Nina Lindquist had 10.

St. Kate's attempts to continue their winning ways as they travel to Gustavus Adolphus on October 8.  Their next home game is against St. Thomas on October 23 at 7:00P.M. at Butler Center.
