Over the summer, senior hockey student-athlete Lexi Muller participated in a summer research project aimed to quantify the extent to which individuals who received chemotherapy for childhood cancers are more prone to muscular fatigue than age-matched controls.  Recent findings suggest that neuropathies resulting from the treatment of childhood cancer impair motor function for some time after treatment has been completed. The research team’s goal was to measure motor fatigue in recovering pediatric oncology patients in a lab setting and compare their function with age-matched controls. Muller was also recognized by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) as an AHCA All-American Scholar recognizing varsity ice hockey players who attained a 3.6 GPA each semester and participated in 40% of their school's games in the 2018-19 season. Muller tallied two goals and eleven assists last season for the Wildcats coming in No. 4 on the team in points as a junior. This is Muller’s first Fleur-de-lis Award.
