Krista Flugstad (Softball): Flugstad garners the first Fleur-de-lis honor of her career and is one of three softball players to earn the award thanks to her dominant pitching the last two weeks. The senior ace has been nothing short of outstanding for St. Kate’s in the month of April, as she has posted an 8-0 record with all eight wins coming against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) opponents. In the past month alone, Flugstad has given up just six earned runs in 46.2 innings of work and recorded two shutouts against Concordia College (2-0) and Gustavus Adolphus College (9-0). More impressively, Flugstad became the first player in program history to eclipse the 500 strikeout mark in her 2-0 win against Concordia and no hit Saint Mary’s through the final six innings of play on Sunday. Flugstad also helped the Wildcats to a huge comeback 6-4 victory over the Cardinals thanks to three nearly perfect innings of relief work, and her shutout performance against Gustavus was equally as stellar with a season-high 10 strikeouts in six innings of work. Overall, Flugstad’s .69 ERA against conference opponents ranks third in the MIAC and she currently ranks second in overall wins (10) and conference wins (8) this season.

Sammie Galvez (Softball): Galvez is the second softball player to earn Fleur-de-lis honors this week for her outstanding athletic performance. The junior catcher dominated at the plate for St. Kate’s and was the team’s most explosive hitter for the past two weeks. Over the past seven MIAC doubleheaders, Galvez has batted exactly .400, with 14 hits and 14 RBI in 35 at bats. She hit the eventual game-winning double in the top of the 11th inning in St. Kate’s 4-2 extra innings victory over Bethel before her sacrifice squeeze gave the team a 3-0 advantage in game two. The Wildcat catcher was also outstanding in six games against MIAC opponents April 19-23. Galvez hit two home runs in the series against Saint Mary’s, both of which gave St. Kate’s an early advantage over the Cardinals and was extremely clutch in the series against Augsburg on April 19, as she went 3-4 at the plate with 4 RBI in game two. The junior catcher also tallied her 100th career hit in the Wildcats doubleheader against Gustavus on Monday.

Alisha Wiedmeier (Tennis): Wiedmeier earns her first Fleur-de-lis honor after an outstanding athletic performance against Saint Mary’s University on April 20. The sophomore helped St. Kate’s tennis team extend its win streak to four matches and earn a big Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory over Saint Mary’s. Thanks to her wins in doubles and singles play, the Wildcats defeated the Cardinals by a final score of 7-2 and Wiedmeier earned MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week honors for her efforts. In doubles play, Wiedmeier, along with senior partner Julia Sporer (Rogers, Minn. / Rogers), defeated Saint Mary's top team of Laura Sonday and Colleen Lois by a score of 8-6. The sophomore also carded a huge come-from-behind singles win. After dropping the first set 6-3, Wiedmeier forced the tiebreaker in dramatic fashion, breaking her opponent’s serve in the final game of set two to win 7-5. She then cruised to a 10-3 win in the tie breaker, winning the match 3-6, 7-5, 10-3.

Claire Woebke (Softball): Woebke earns her second Fleur-de-lis honor of the year for her outstanding athletic accomplishments in the month of April. Woebke batted .412 with 14 hits in the last two weeks, six of which were doubles. She was also ridiculously clutch, as she came up with three game-tying or go ahead hits for St. Kate’s over the week. In the Wildcats 5-1 win over Augsburg, Woebke’s two RBI double in the second inning put St. Kate’s ahead 2-1, and she scored the go-ahead run in the Wildcats 3-2 win over Concordia exactly two days later. However, those two performances pale to Woebke’s performance against Saint Mary’s, as she went 4-6 in the series with three doubles and a home run. She was also instrumental to St. Kate’s comeback, as her RBI double tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth. Woebke also tallied the 100th hit of her career with her two-run homer in game two.
