ST. PAUL, MINN. – The indoor season came to an end for the St. Catherine track and field team this past weekend at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Wildcats took ninth, their best finish at the conference meet in the past five years, behind top performances and times from several athletes. One of these athletes was none other than distance star Rachel Hall (Mendota Heights, Minn.) whose marvelous indoor season concluded with yet another top time and school record. For her performances this past weekend, Hall has been named Wildcat Athlete of the Week.

Hall had two historic performances at the MIAC Indoor Championships. The first came on Friday during the Distance Medley Relay, when Hall served as the anchor for the four person team. Her outstanding performance in the final 1600 meters of the race led to a fifth place finish and the second fastest performance in school history. The Wildcats distance medley team finished the marathon-esc race in 12:55.01, which is No.2 on the St. Kate’s top-10 performance list.

However, Hall’s shining moment came on Saturday, when she took fifth and broke a school record in the 1000 meter run. Hall came into the race with the fifth fastest time in the MIAC at 3:02.48 after breaking a 21 year-old school record at the Macalester Kilt Classic one week prior. That record was not safe during the MIAC Championships. Hall ran the 1000 meters in 3:01.92, a personal best and the new school record by .44 seconds.

Hall received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors for her performances in the Distance Medley Relay and the 1000 meter run. She and the Wildcats will have a few days off before they travel to Point Loma, California for their spring break trip on March 19.
