Steffanie Jurusik has been named Wildcat Athlete-of-the-Week after her stellar performances at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships this past weekend.
Three was the magic number for Jurusik in the meet. In her three individual races, over the course of the three day meet, she picked up three new St. Kate's school records, earned MIAC All-Conference honors in all three races, and posted NCAA B-cut times in all three races.
Adding to her collection of three's, Jurusik placed third in the 200 back (2:04.76) and was third in the 100 back (58.07). In fact the only blemish on her run of three's was a second place finish in the 200 IM (2:08.81).
Beyond her individual achievements, Jurusik helped propel the wildcats to their highest conference meet finish in 20 years by swimming critical legs on four different relays. All four relays scored big points for St. Kate's, and the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay both St. Kate's school records.
Steffanie now waits to hear from the NCAA if her performances have qualified her for the national meet, which is being held March 23-26 in Knoxville, Tenn.
