What do you enjoy most about being an athlete at St. Catherine?: I like that I have the opportunity to receive a great education and I am still able to play the game I love. I have also met some amazing people who have impacted me and pushed me to be the best version of myself.
2015: In her final season as the Wildcats' goalkeeper, Mendez played and started 18-18 games for the Wildcats earning 11 wins and seven shutouts which both ranked in the top two in the MIAC. Her 0.81 goals against average and .881 save percentage both ranked third in the MIAC. She also earned MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week after back-to-back shutouts to keep the Wildcats in the playoff race. Mendez graduates ranked first all-time at St. Kate's for career GAA (1.44) and shutouts (19) and second in saves (288).
Mendez is part of a senior class that recorded the most wins in a four-year time span in program history finishing 35-34-2.2014: As a junior, Mendez played and started all 17 games for the Wildcats in goal. She compiled 54 saves and boasted a 1.09 goals against average. Mendez tied her career-best for shutouts with five that ranked fifth-most int he MIAC. Her 12 career shutouts are now a school record.
2013: As a sophomore, Mendez played and started 15 games in goal for the Wildcats. She compiled 81 saves which ranked sixth in the MIAC. Mendez also tallied five wins and two shutouts in back-to-back wins over Dubuque and Simpson.
2012: As a first-year goalkeeper for the Wildcats, Mendez started and played in 16 games. She had a total of 85 saves, eight wins and five shutouts - which ranked fifth among all women's soccer goalkeepers in the MIAC.
High School: Mendez was a three year letter winner in soccer at the Academy of Holy Angels. She was awarded All-Conference two years in a row as well as All-State her senior year. She was named defensive MVP and was team captain as well.
Personal: Mendez chose St. Kate's because she liked the feel of the school and the academic programs. She is an exercise and sport science major and dean's list student. Mendez is the daughter of Susan Luppke-Mendez and Aggie Mendez.
