The St. Catherine University softball program and head coach Colleen Powers have announced the addition of Tony Acketz as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2018-19 softball season. Acketz, an offensive specialist, is headed back to the Twin Cities area after serving as a Mizuno Storm Club coach as well as a private hitting coach in the state of Arizona.
 
"We are excited to add Coach Tony our coaching staff, softball program and Wildcat family," Powers said. "Tony possesses the skill set, knowledge, and competitive spirit to take our players to the next level with both offensive technique and defensive strategy. His energy, passion and work ethic is unmatched, and we are so lucky to be making this huge addition to the program!"

Acketz joins the Wildcats with almost 30 years of coaching experience.  Acketz is a nationally certified 2-star coach through the NFCA and has experience coaching fastpitch at both the high school and travel ball levels. Acketz is an Advanced Certified Hitting Instructor with the Right View Pro system for both hitting and slapping.  He is also the owner of the East Valley Hitting Academy in Chandler, AZ, providing team clinics and private hitting instruction for high level and high performing athletes. Acketz is a staple in the fastpitch community through his affiliations with DeMarini, Louisville Slugger, Wilson, Phoenix Bats, and Evoshield as the owner of nationally recognized Underground Bats and 43FT.com.

Acketz is a passionate teacher, motivator and leader and will make an immediate impact on the St. Catherine softball players and program.
