Biography
I'm proud to be a Wildcat because: I love being part of a close-knit team.
2011-2012: Melanie earned the MIAC Sportsmanship Award and was team captain. She also swam distance fly and IM for the Wildcats.
2010-2011: Mel is a sophomore and a team captain for the Wildcats. At the 2011 MIAC meet, Melanie placed 15th in the 200 butterfly, scoring points for the Wildcats.
2009-2010: As a first-year, Mel swam long distance and IM events for the Wildcats. She swam the 500 yard freestyle at Conference, posting a personal best time.
High School: At Fridley High School she was earned all-conference honors, four varsity letters, and was given the team's Most Improved and High Point Scorer Awards. Melanie's favorite athletic memory was receiving the High Point Scorer Award.
Personal: Mel’s favorite athlete is Dara Torres and her favorite movies are Rent and The Lorax. Her favorite sports memory is making it to the State meet for the first time. Melanie is the daughter of Andrew and Sherri Maas.
