2019: This will be Markel's first season with the Wildcats.

University of Minnesota-Morris: Markel appeared in 27 matches her junior season for the Cougars as a defensive specialist. In her first season at Morris, Markel earned the team's Rookie of the Year award and also helped lead her team to the UMAC Playoff Championship match in both 2016 and 2017. 

Academic Honors/Involvement: 
Dean's list: Fall 2018, Spring 2019

Personal: Daughter of Sandra and Curt Markel. Markel will complete her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science before joining the Physical Theraphy program at St. Kate's. 

I am proud to be a Wildcat because: I get to represent St. Catherine University and pursue excellence as those before me have.

What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at St. Catherine?:  It’s given me an outlet to reach out and make connections that I wouldn’t have made otherwise. Being a student athlete has given me a family and a team of supporters that I know will always do their best to help me do my best.

I chose to attend St. Kate's because: of the culture and the opportunity to pursue their physical therapy program. I love the atmosphere and the academic and athletic opportunities it has provided me. It feels like home away from home.
