I'm proud to be a Wildcat because: it provides a healthy balance between sports and academics. I also am surrounded by an amazing group of student-athletes who are here for the same reason. It is a great opportunity to be surrounded by competitive athletes and a great school. Being a Wildcat provides you with another family.

What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at St. Catherine?: I enjoy being a student-athlete at St. Kate's because sports provide me with a stress relief outside of school and studying. Being in volleeyball has given me a second family to go to for help.

2016: In her final season with St. Kate's, Herd played in all 30 matches for the Wildcats and was the only student-athlete to play in all 115 sets. She earned her second straight All-MIAC honor and also became the first St. Kate's player to earn All-Region Honorable Mention honors in over five years. For the second consecutive season, Herd led the MIAC in digs (729) and also digs/set average (6.34) and was the only libero in the conference ranked in the top-10 nationally in both categories. She broke the school record for aces in a single match (10) and is tied for fourth all-time for aces in a single season and sixth for career aces (101). SIn addition, Herd holds the school-record for career digs (2259) and is second and third all-time for digs in a single season (729 – 2016, 685 – 2015).

2015: As a junior, Herd played in 30 matches for the Wildcats. She earned the program's first All-MIAC honor since 2012 after ranking leading the MIAC in digs (675) – second most all-time at St. Kate's for a single season. Her 6.19 digs per set ranked second in the MIAC and fifth in all of Division III. Herd currently ranks No. 2 all-time at St. Kate's for career digs (1530) in three seasons played. She also earned Academic All-MIAC honors.

2014: Herd played in 27 matches for the Wildcats and led the team with 416 digs (4.78 per set). In just two seasons, Herd has compiled 855 digs which ranks seventh all-time at St. Kate's for a career. She also had 16 service aces. Herd earned Academic All-MIAC honors.

2013: As a first-year, Herd was sixth in the MIAC in digs with 439 and 4.35 per set. She was also second on the team in service aces with 20.

High School: At Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Minn., Herd was three-time defensive MVP for the volleyball team. She earned all-conference honors three times for volleyball, twice for hockey and once for track. In 2008, she helped the hockey team win a state championship and was also team captain and the MVP as a senior. She earned all-state academic honors for track in 2011 and for volleyball in 2012. Herd was an honor roll student , choir president, National Honor Society member and hockey coach for Special Olympics.

Personal: Herd chose St. Catherine because she loved campus, the players and coaches on the volleyball team and the academic opportunities. She attended the 2014 MIAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference and is a member of the Wildcat Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (WSAAC). She has also studied abroad in Japan, Hawaii, Greece, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. Herd is a nursing major, dean's list student and member of the studnet nurses' association. She is the daughter of Marnee and John Herd.
