I'm proud to be a Wildcat because: I am allowed the opportunity to play a sport I'm passionate about along with being a part of a team that feels like family.

What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at St. Catherine?: I enjoy being a student-athlete at St. Kate's because it allows me to be a student first and an athlete second in a conference that is just as competitive as other divisions.

2016-17: As a junior, Alvarez had a career year on the course, earning All-MIAC honors for the third straight season and helping St. Kate's win its first ever MIAC Championship. She finished 10th at the conference championship in October, helping the Wildcats win the MIAC Championship and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship in May. In addition, Alvarez broke the school record for lowest two-round score (154) and earned Medalist Honors at the College City Challenge in late September. She was also named MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week during the fall season and earned All-Region honors from the WGCA.

2015-16: Following the fall season, Alvarez is third on the team with a 80.91 scoring average. She placed 11th at the MIAC Championships with a score of 242 (+26). Alvarez shot a career-low round of 74 (+2) at the Division III Classic for a top 10 finish.

2014-15: As a first-year, Alvarez placed eigth at the MIAC Championships with a program record 54-hole score of 238 (+22). For her finish, she earned All-Championship and All-MIAC honors helping the Wildcats to a school-record sixth-place finish. Alvarez finished the season with three top-10 tournament finishes and a 84.2 stroke average per round. She shot a career-low round of 77 (+5) twice in the fall season.

High School: Alvarez was a three-time all-conference performer at North High School. She qualified for state as an individual her junior year. As a senior, Alvarez led her team to a state tournament appearance, earned all-state honorable mention honors and was named conference player of the year. She was a two year captain and academic all-state honoree. Outside of golf, Alvarez was a member of National Honors Society. She also earned the excellence in education award three times, as well as the Abb Leopold Excellence in Environmental Studies award once. She was a three-time nominee for the people-to-people student ambassador program.

Personal: Alvarez chose St. Kate's because of the welcoming atmosphere and the support from campus to be successful. She is an exericse and sport science major and dean's list student. She is the daughter of Kirsten Alvarez and Dean Van Amber.
