High School: At Jordan High School, Szyszka was a five-time letter winner in track and field, a two-year captain and team MVP in 2013. She was Academic All-State three years in discus and all-conference in 2013. In discus, Szyszka was the section 4A discus champion in 2012 and subsection 8A discus champion. Szyszka was a member of National Honors Society, spanish club, speech, manager of the football team and elected a class representative. She was an honor roll student, tutored in multiple subjects and volunteered at track camp and through her church. 

Personal: Szyszka chose St. Catherine because of the strong science programs, the people and campus atmosphere and the opportunity to compete on the track and field team. She is a biology and pre-physical therapy major.
