High School: At Fredericktown, Ashton was a track and field captain. She placed seventh at the Ohio state meet in weight throw and was twice all-conference in the discus. She was also a member of the National Honors society. 

Personal: Ashton chose St. Kate's because she wanted to attend college outside of Ohio and to be further from home.
